General Description
The Amur Leopard is also known as the Far East Leopard, the Manchurid Leopard, or the Korean Leopard. It has widely spaced rosette spot patterns. This animals fur is a fairly light yellow/golden color in the winters. In the summers the fur becomes a brighter, more vivid, reddish-yellow hue. The male Amur Leopard can weigh up to 130 pounds and the female can weigh up to 95 pounds. The Amur Leopard is can live as few as 10 years and as long as 15 years if not more. The amur leopard is uses its long legs and hair to adapt to cold climates but can also live in regions with summer climates. Due to poachers and trophy hunters, the leopard population has rapidly decreased over the last 20 years. They can be found mainly in the Russian far east and China. This habitat consists of predominantly temperate forests, but more and more of these habitats are being destroyed.
Men and women like this are reasons why the Amur Leopard population is becoming extinct so quickly. The value of their fur means more to poachers and trophy hunters than the continuation of the species deos.
